I had my wisdom teeth extracted, and a short time after the oral surgery, my weakened lower jaw bone broke. I had to go in for another surgery to fuse my jaw back together using a titanium plate. One serious side effect from the surgery was the loss of feeling in that area.
After almost 12 months of having complete numbness in my face, I was beginning to think it would be permanent.
Then I began a program with Dr. Agatep called neuromuscular dentistry. I started TENSing treatments to help stimulate the flow of blood and oxygen into the jaw area and find its optimal position. Sure enough, there were adjustments to make, and I was fitted with an orthosis to correctly reposition my bite into that position and resolve any TMJ issues I was experiencing. Within the first week, I had about 50 percent feeling back in my face.
The change was so dramatic and emotional for me.
Each step of the way, Dr. Agatep has been able to clearly explain the process so I have a full understanding of the plan and has given me back a sense of hope in recovering from this devastating circumstance. I drive from Los Angeles to San Diego each month for my treatments, and even though I now work in Asia, I never miss an appointment with Dr. Agatep.
I have such peace of mind this will all be corrected and back to normal, if not better than before.
